Daily Devotional – Born Again

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 3:1-8. Jesus has clearly demonstrated that trying to slightly modify our behavior is a pointless, religious activity. If you are going to go, go BIG!

“Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[a]

“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You[c] must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

Unless something changes, the results will repeat.

We need to be reborn and die to ourselves and our natural desires. Being born is not a simple process and something that allows for a fluid movement between birth and not being born! Once the baby is born, it is not able to return because of the environment it finds. The womb is warm, comfortable, and safe, but it is not an option to return to.

We need to make a decision. Joshua 24:15, Joshua lays it out plainly for Israel. Choose with a clear and conscious mind who you will love, worship, and serve. Jesus echoed Joshua, calling for a sure, committed decision.

In order for a rebirth in the spirit, we have to give up everything that hinders us from the earth. A 100% new being is born of the spirit and all selfish and sinful ways are dead. Why are the churches on Sunday so full of people that are not new creatures?

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, that You have laid before us salvation and freedom. It is our choice to take on Your Spirit and a new life, and as I make this choice to be reborn, bring about a new life in me. Drive out the selfish and sinful self and replace it with Your Spirit and love!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
