Daily Devotional – Better is One Day With You

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 84:1-12. My soul yearns and cries out for time in the presence of my God. How wonderful it would be to spend an hour in His presence.

“How lovely is your dwelling place,
    Lord Almighty!
My soul yearns, even faints,
    for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out
    for the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home,
    and the swallow a nest for herself,
    where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
    Lord Almighty, my King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
    they are ever praising you.[c]

Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
    whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
    they make it a place of springs;
    the autumn rains also cover it with pools.[d]
They go from strength to strength,
    till each appears before God in Zion.

fall scents for your home

Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty;
    listen to me, God of Jacob.
Look on our shield,[e] O God;
    look with favor on your anointed one.

10 Better is one day in your courts
    than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
    than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
    the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
    from those whose walk is blameless.

12 Lord Almighty,
    blessed is the one who trusts in you.”

We get all eternity to be in the presence of God

Blessed are those among us that find their strength and hope in the Lord Almighty. God will be faithful to the end to protect and provide for every need that we have. No matter the season or path, our protector is with us every step of the way.

It is better to spend one day in the presence of our father than a thousand anywhere else. Our soul is nourished and filled to overflowing from our time in the presence of our creator.

Let us not hesitate to draw nearer to Jesus today or any day. He created us for the communion of the Father and child so do not let anything hinder that opportunity and time.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that You alone satisfy my soul and the thirst of my heart. Today I draw closer to You and into Your presence so that I may abide in You.

In Jesus’s Name,

Amen
