Daily Devotional – Back to the Garden

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Isaiah 51:1-6. Why was I created and put on this earth to live life? A common question that starts to bother us from a young age. Many people are out there seeking to fulfill a purpose or trying to avoid it.

“Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness
    and who seek the Lord:
Look to the rock from which you were cut
    and to the quarry from which you were hewn;
look to Abraham, your father,
    and to Sarah, who gave you birth.
When I called him he was only one man,
    and I blessed him and made him many.
The Lord will surely comfort Zion
    and will look with compassion on all her ruins;
he will make her deserts like Eden,
    her wastelands like the garden of the Lord.
Joy and gladness will be found in her,
    thanksgiving and the sound of singing.

“Listen to me, my people;
    hear me, my nation:
Instruction will go out from me;
    my justice will become a light to the nations.
My righteousness draws near speedily,
    my salvation is on the way,
    and my arm will bring justice to the nations.
The islands will look to me
    and wait in hope for my arm.
Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
    look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke,
    the earth will wear out like a garment
    and its inhabitants die like flies.
But my salvation will last forever,
    my righteousness will never fail.”

God created us for Himself!

I have always been a go-getter. I have jet-set across the globe in the pursuit of fame, fortune, and glory. At the end of the day, I look back at the turmoil and struggles that I have had to endure, and I wonder what it was all for?

God created us for the ultimate purpose of being in a relationship with Him and those around us. Since sin interfered and we have been burdened with the need to work and strive against the earth, we have had to balance the 3 parts of our life. We lose focus and sight on the relationship with God and others, while we are primarily focused on our career and the rewards of it.

God created you as a royal heir to the greatest throne of all the known universes. The blood of Jesus has set free! Let us take this time to refocus on the first two important reasons that God created us. Focus on loving God with all that you have, and then loving everyone else around you with the same generosity!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that Your blood has paid the price to open the way for my return to Your garden. I come back eager to see and be with You. Help me to know You more intimately than ever before.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
