Daily Devotional – Such Amazing Grace

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Peter 5:5-11. What stood between God and His creation was sin. The sin that would cause the object of His affection to perish upon coming in contact with Him. The silver bullet to remove the curse was love and grace.

“In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”[a]

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.”

The blood of the lamb was the redeeming sacrifice.

I keep thinking of the Disney story, the beauty, and the beast. Not that God is a beast, but in the same fashion, God had to withdraw Himself from His beloved creation. God created us for an intimate relationship and yet because of sin, He was not able to engage with us.

We the people, God’s beauty had become like a beast covered all in sin and shame. It is clear to see by looking around the world how truly repulsive our sin is.

Grace and love from God won the day. How amazing is the grace of God that His only son died and paid the price for me? I see now because God has removed the sin from my life. I have love and compassion toward others because of the overflowing love I have experienced from God, my Father.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

dating for women over 50

Thank you, Jesus, that You were the sacrifice of grace and love. I know that I was created for communion and relationship with You. Today I want to take time to realign my focus on You and not the things of this world.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
