Daily Devotional – Adopted into Inheritance

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 1:9-14. The death of Jesus on the cross has redeemed and saved us from sin and death. The sacrifice paved the way back to our Father’s house.

“The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

As God’s children, our inheritance starts with His presence

God the creator has created each one of us uniquely and wonderfully. He created us in His image and with a soul that would find peace and fulfillment in Himself alone.

As children of the Almighty, we are heirs to the throne in heaven. As heirs to the throne that will never be vacated, we won’t inherit the throne. However, as adopted children of God, we get to draw closer to the throne and the lap of our Father.

As we value the presence of our Father and savior, we will revel in the blessing that all those before the death of Jesus had longed for. Let us take advantage of the presence of God through His Holy Spirit and draw closer. It was for this reason that Jesus came to die, to draw all mankind unto the Father.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you for sending Jesus to make the way clear for me to draw nearer to You. I will take full advantage of Your Holy Spirits dwelling in and around me. Hold me close today as I walk through this day for Your glory.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
