Daily Devotional – The Surf and Turf

Daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Genesis 1:6-10. Following the formation of the earth within the universe, God created the bubble to surround and protect His creation. He filled the bubble with the perfect balance of nitrogen, oxygen, and other gases to sustain life.

“And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.”

God looked at it, and said that it was good!

The atmosphere is God’s protective bubble for His earth and creation. It protects life on earth by creating pressure allowing for liquid water to exist on the earth’s surface. The atmosphere stretches up 62 miles from the surface and is made up of nitrogen, oxygen, and argon. It includes trace gases in smaller amounts such as neon, helium, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone.

Water covers approximately 71% of the earth’s surface. The deepest part of the ocean lies in the Pacific Ocean, somewhere between Guam and the Philippines. Marianas Trench is located almost 7 miles (35,814 ft) below sea level.

Our atmosphere has protected the earth from asteroids and other flying things from space. God knew that we would need the atmosphere to survive, but also for protection. An all-knowing God is always 1 step ahead and got us safely within His hands. We can continue to trust Him!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father God, for creating such an amazing earth and universe. Your creation is good and perfect! In everything You do and create, You continue to provide and protect me.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
