Cup of Empowerment 7/30/12

It feels so refreshing to sit back, catch our breath and savor a cup of tea with you.

“Meme,” (as my grand kids call me) “If you HAD to choose, would you rather be attacked by sharks in a fierce ocean ORRRR would you rather have your fingernails pulled out while hanging over a raging waterfall?” I replied, “I choose neither one!” This answer was not good enough for my grandson. “But Meme, if you HAD to choose.” I said, “Honey, I’m not choosing one of those. I choose life!” I don’t think this grandma was any fun in this game!

In the Hebrew language, the letters not only have a sound, but have a numeric value and a word picture. One of the Hebrew words for fear is “a-ratz” which means dread or terror. The word picture is a naked hook. Now, the word picture for the word meaning distress or trouble is a hooked man. “Hmmmmm?” I wondered why. It showed an illustration by the ancient Assyrians who would hook their prisoners through their lips to control and lead them. Yes, that could add some distress or dread to your life. I am glad that was not on my grandson’s list!

Recently while the intercessors were researching information to pray for a man having kidney problems, we came across some helpful information. In my dream symbol book, it said about kidneys, that it could represent “to stay away from speculation.” This made more sense when we discovered medical findings that the kidneys are affected by the adrenal glands.  Adrenalin is what we need if we are in a crisis. It is our fight or flight response to get us out of danger. If there is no danger and we are only picking up fear of things we dread, this gland becomes overworked and our health is hindered.

“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Pro 23:7) Our bodies respond to what we dwell on. No wonder the scriptures says, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate (or think) on these things.” Phil 4:8

If there is ANY virtue and if there is ANYTHING worthy of praise, THINK ON THOSE THINGS! Then the apostle Paul follows with verse 9, “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” We have a winning combination! As we get a hold of the reins of our minds and choose what to dwell on, then we align our actions to follow through with what we believe for… PEACE WILL RULE!

As you drink your cup of empowerment today, dear one, think on the things that bring peace. If you are in the midst of a crisis, praise God that He is bigger and that He loves you! Act on what causes peace to rule and dread to be silent.  It’s a lot more fun than hungry sharks, painful fingernails and hooks in your lips! We choose life!

Enjoying His life,
