Cup of Empowerment 4/9/12

It’s been said, “God is a good checker player…He never moves out of turn!” And I have found that to be true! God wants us to covenant with Him. He does His part, and we do our part. Then He does His part, and we do ours. And so forth, and so on. He waits for us to be obedient before He makes the next move ahead. If we can really get ahold of this in our spirits, it will save us a lot of frustration and disappointment.

In Genesis 1:26-28, we find that God gave mankind dominion. Later Paul called us ‘Christ body’ and said that He is our ‘Head.’ So as we get our direction from the head, we are to act upon it. We are to partner with Him to bring the will of Heaven to earth for what we have been given authority over. Jesus confirmed this when He said He only did what He saw the Father do and said what He heard the Father say. It was a partnership between Him and the Father. And the same applies to us and the Holy Trinity.

We see Jesus demonstrate this in John chapter two when He brought about His first recorded miracle at the wedding. His mother, Mary, who scholars believe was a widowed by then, came to Jesus to tell Him that the hosts were without wine. This could have been an inexcusable situation, which would have brought shame on the wedding party. Jesus addressed Mary as “woman,” instead of “mother.” Have you ever wondered why? Well when you look at the Greek and understand the cultural context, you will see that when Jesus referred to Mary as “woman,” He was using that term as a word indicating covenant. This was not simply a situation between Him and His mother; but rather an example of partnering with the will of Heaven and an example He was setting for us to follow.

Next Jesus asked, “What do I have to do with you?” as it is translated into English. Now, to our ears, this sounds disrespectful; yet we know that Jesus was not showing disrespect to his mother since it would have been a sin to dishonor her, and Jesus never sinned. So what was He saying? Let’s look at the translation and the phrase used in that day. Jesus was saying, ‘What do I have to do, and what do you have to do?’ or ‘What is your part and what is my part?’ He stated that His time had not come, or that it was not yet His turn.

Therefore, AFTER Mary did her part (by speaking to the servants telling them to do whatever Jesus told them to do), she opened the door for Him to do His part and give the servants direction. The servants did their part by obeying Jesus’ words and trusting what He said. And then Heaven released a miracle, which confirmed that the new wine of the new covenant was in their midst.

Oh, I love partnering with God! Instead of us figuring out what we want, and asking God to bless it; How about finding out what God’s will is and what He would have us do? Then we do our part, and He does His. This opens the situation for the will of Heaven to be manifested on earth! Partnership is developed by spending time with Him in prayer and in the Word, just as Jesus did with the Father. I have found that any idea that is smarter than me is usually His! If it is birthed out of Love, and lines up with the Word; He usually directed it even if I don’t understand it. That’s what is happening in our projects in Israel and in India. We just have been obedient, and God is changing lives and touching nations! We are doing our part, and He is doing His! What an honor!

Thank you for partnering with me as Cup Bearers. Everything I do is credited to you as well! We do our part, and He does His! And the will of Heaven is being released!

Bearing His cup together,
CarolMarie
