Crying for Help

Daily Devotional

It doesn’t matter what we are facing – we are giving the assurance from God’s word that He hears his people when they call for help. Have you ever been so desperate for help that you shouted, “God help me” or “Jesus, help!”

Scripture

“The LORD hears his people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all the troubles.” Psalm 34:17 (NLT)

I remember a time when my boys were young and we were driving in our jeep wrangler across the pass in Oregon to take them to the airport to visit their father. We were having a great time when all of a sudden we hit ice and began to fishtail with a steep cliff on one side of the road and oncoming traffic on the other. Without even thinking, I began to shout, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, HELP!” Amazingly, my husband got the vehicle under control. I believe it was the hand of God that rescued us that day when we were in serious trouble.

There have been countless times where I have called on Him and He has provided just what I needed for that moment. He wants to do the same for you. Sometimes we may not see the results in the timing we like, but if you look back and reflect on the events of your life. I’m sure you can see the hand of God helping you in your time of trouble.

Consider God’s Word

1 Corinthians 1:9 “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.”

Isaiah 65:24 “It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.”

Isn’t that amazing! His word declares that even before we call, He will answer and while we are still speaking, He hears us. What a wonderful God we serve. If you have a need today, bring it before the Lord for He is there for you to meet all your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). His desire is to rescue you in your time of distress bringing joy instead of sorrow and beauty for ashes.

Let’s Pray

Lord, You are good! You are faithful! These words derive their meaning from You and Your character. I seek to know you better, and in doing so, learning how to resemble Your character in this world. May Your Kingdome come! Amen
