Christmas Devotional – You Have a Gift to Give!

Daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Isaiah 9:6-7. The angels called out to those on the hills that day. They told them of the miracle that had been foretold. The gift to all creation had been born and revealed.

“For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
    there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
    and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
    with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
    will accomplish this.”

I play my drum with all my heart

When we visit those that have invited us into their home, we typically come bearing a gift for the host. In appreciation of the invitation and to reciprocate the gesture, we enter the home with a gift.

To honor the gift that was given to all the world, we give what we can. Nothing that we can do, buy or create is worthy of the gift that we have received. So we humble ourselves, giving all that we have and are. We join the three wise men kneeling beside the manger of Jesus.

Give with all your heart, give with all your might all that you are. Live your life as a light within the world that you inhabit for the glory of the name above all names, Jesus!

Let’s Pray
