Barbecue Slow Cooker Chicken

If you prefer not to stand over the grill or maybe it’s occupied by all the steaks and burgers, then try making barbecue chicken in your slow cooker. The chicken comes out just as moist and tasty without all the work. It’s perfection.

Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • 2-3 lbs chicken
  • 1 cup catsup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons butter, optional
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce + 2 tablespoons sugar, optional

Instructions

  1. Heat all ingredients except lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil.
  2. Add lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce and heat until hot. Pour over skinned and cleaned chicken.
  3. Cook in slow cooker for about 6-8 hours on low. 4-6 hours on high.
