B.Y.O.B…You Know You Want To!

Are you the kind of person who will take a chance on something you feel a strong conviction about even if you have no real idea what the outcome may be?

Some of the biggest ideas in this century came from people trying to solve a problem who believed their solution could be viable. They took a chance and companies like Ebay, Google, and Netflix were formed.

Jennifer Hyman and Jenny Fleiss were in college when they thought of  Rent the Runway, a business that has made them a small fortune. Nick Friedman and Omar Soliman were about the same age when they founded College Hunks Hauling Junk.

Sometimes necessity begs us to take a chance like Marie Moody did after rescuing her dog to begin her company Stella and Chewy and like Julie Aigner Clark who just wanted to create some videos for her own child and ended up the CEO of Baby Einstein.

Youth does not have an exclusive on taking a chance. Colonel Sanders started his Kentucky Fried Chicken enterprise when he was 65 using his first Social Security check to fund some of the capital. Similarly, Lauren Ingalls Wilder was the same age when she wrote Little House on the Prairie.

Taking a chance is really different than taking a risk. A risk has some known danger but a chance is simply giving something a shot and seeing what happens.

Everyday countless people come up with amazing ideas. Some because they are frustrated with a situation, some because they are looking for a different way to do things, some because they just want another option and some because, well just because. But few people really put those ideas into motion and see anything on a grander scale.

What about you?

Do you toss your ideas around in your mind but have never tried to put them into motion?

Do you wish you could gain a better handle on what you are doing with your life so you can control who owns your time and your energy?

Do you want to branch out and try some ideas but just need someone to “hold your hand”, “be your cheerleader”  “direct your steps,” or just determine if your idea will be one worth pursuing?

Do you want to start something but you just need all those questions answered first?
