Adair Country Inn & Restaurant

The Adair Country Inn & Restaurant is an intimate and romantic retreat located in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. Individuals, families and couples flock to this sweet area year round to relax, observe wildlife, and take advantage of nearby hiking, skiing and the natural attractions of the area.

From its long drive bordered by stately pines, gleaming white birch trees and stone walls to its picturesque setting on a knoll with spectacular views of the White Mountains, Adair is one of New England’s most renowned country Inns.

fall scents for your home

The Inn is rich in history, with scenic grounds and colorful gardens designed by the Olmsted Brothers (designers of New York City’s Central Park) providing an atmosphere of quiet splendor.

The country estate was built in 1927 by Frank Hogan as a gift to his only daughter, Dorothy Adair, upon the occasion of her marriage.

Over the years, Adair has hosted many distinguished guests: politicians, actors, actresses and sports figures to name a few. Adair remained a private residence until Dorothy Adair Guilder died in 1991. It was converted into a 9 room country inn in September 1992.

All the rooms at the inn are tastefully furnished with antiques or reproductions. A full gourmet breakfast, too incredible for words, is included as well as a lovely afternoon tea with scrumptious homemade goodies. The restaurant at the Adair is top notch and meals are served with only the freshest ingredients. Artful presentation is a point of pride with this restaurant. Guests of the Inn, visitors to the area and locals all enjoy the fine New England Style cuisine.

The intimate dining room with fireplace and wonderful views of the outdoors offers a relaxing ambiance in a casual elegant atmosphere. One of the things that make this dining experience special is that you can create an option to create two – three – four and even a five course dinner if you can handle it. Of course, the dinner menu is complimented by a carefully selected wine list, beer and cocktails.

Orlo Coots, the head chef, joined the Adair “family” in April 2010 and brings over 25 years of experience to Adair Country Inn & Restaurant. His passion for food comes through with every plate. His style is to stay true to the ingredients and not over flavor the foods. Orlo takes great pride in churning his own ice cream so be sure to save room for dessert!

As with all spots in New England, as you enjoy your stay at the Adair Country Inn, be sure to allow time to enjoy all of the glorious outdoor activities. The hiking, biking, antiquing, and of course leaf peeping in the autumn, are always spectacular and well worth the trip.
