3 Foods to Help You Feel Younger

The fountain of youth has filled our legends and dreams for centuries. Wouldn’t it be amazing if there was a magic pill or cup of life that gave us eternal youth and an escape from aging? While these fantasies aren’t coming true anytime soon, mother nature has provided us with her own form of magic pills that will help you to feel younger both inside and out. Here are three things you can add to your diet to help you feel youthful again.

Your body produces free radicals, which is good because they help to fight against bacteria and viruses, but like everything in your body, there is a balance. If you have too many free radicals they can begin to damage your cells. That is where the berries come in. Berries contain antioxidants which help to keep free radicals in check.

Berries are always a great way to get fiber in your diet. Health Line says, “Studies have shown that consuming soluble fiber slows down the movement of food through your digestive tract, leading to reduced hunger and increased feelings of fullness.”

One more thing that berries have going for them is they are low in calories but contain lots of great vitamins. Most berries contain vitamin C and manganese, and they can contain other helpful vitamins as well, depending on the berry.

If you are a lover of fish than you’re in luck! Fish are full of the nutrition that is important for almost any lifestyle. Keep in mind, however, that not all fish are created equal. There are some that are better for you than others. Here are some of the best fish options.

  • Salmon
  • Trout
  • Sardines
  • Tuna
  • Mackerel

These fish are considered good for you because they are full of fat-based nutrients like vitamin D. They are packed full of omega-3 fatty acids which are vital for your brain and body to work correctly. There are also some studies that show a link between omega-3 fatty acids and disease prevention.

Beans are also a food that is high in fiber which is great because it helps you to feel full and satisfied. Their fiber is contained in both their skin and body so you get a pocket filled with fiber in every bite. Also, beans contain different types of fiber which help your digestive system to work properly.

Besides being packed full of fiber, beans can help lower cholesterol and regulate blood sugar. They are a great addition to your diet if you are looking to maintain your weight, and they contain iron and vitamin B, both things that your body needs.

If you steer clear from beans because you’re afraid of being gassy here is something to keep in mind. “People who eat beans on a consistent basis experience less gas and bloating than people who consume them less often,” says Cynthia Sass, MPH, RD, Health‘s contributing nutrition editor, on Health.com.

These foods are great options to add to your diet to help you feel younger and healthy because they contain so many good things for you. They are not, however, cure-alls to your problems. If you have aches and pains that aren’t going away then you should speak with your doctor about regenerative medicine treatments to help you feel fresh again. Your doctor should be able to point you in the right direction for your specific health needs.
