Daily Devotional – Wounded for Our Healing

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Peter 2:21-25. I have come to learn through life that everything costs something. Nothing good comes for free. I recently heard  saying, “What is free, always costs more!”

“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

22 “He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth.”[e]

23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 25 For “you were like sheep going astray,”[f] but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”

It cost Jesus everything

One of the reasons that many people find sports so inspirational is because of the inspirational athletes. No matter the sport, it is filled with athletes that sacrificed everything for the glory and love of the sport.

Jesus gave up His throne in heaven for a life with His creation. Not only did He give up the benefits of ruling the universe from heaven, but He gave up His life to death. Jesus sacrificed a lot in order to redeem His greatest prize, His children, and creation.

It is always too easy to find the difficulty and challenges in life. How much have you truly given up for the Kingdom of God and for others? Let us not measure the sacrifices that we make, but the glory for God. We can influence and change the lives of all those that we meet each day!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you for the great sacrifice of Yours. You gave up Your Son for us and our salvation. Strengthen me to withstand all that will seek to stand against me, so that You and Your Kingdom are glorified.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
