Daily Devotional – Repentance Takes Humility

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Acts 2:36-41. Jesus has been made the Lord and Messiah due to His faithful and willing sacrifice. Our humility before the Lord that has been exalted honors the one that gave it all for us.

“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.”

Repentance is acknowledging that we need Jesus

If we are able to work our way into heaven and the Kingdom of God, then the death of Jesus was pointless. Without humility, and through self-righteous actions, we will elevate ourselves above Jesus.

Our repentance acknowledges that we can not achieve salvation and a clean slate. As we turn away from our own strength, ways and accept the forgiveness on offer, we worship Jesus, the name above any other name.

Jesus came to draw the Father’s creation closer to Him. Let us accept the grace and mercy today so that we can honor and glorify God. Let us repent from our striving and efforts, we have our sins washed away because of Jesus, and not our efforts!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that Your Son Jesus came to die upon the cross for all of creation’s sins. Today I repent from all my ways and live for You. Be glorified in everything that I do today.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
