Daily Devotional – Prayers from a Thankful Heart

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 118 Psalm 1-9. We enter the courts and throne room of the Almighty God with thanksgiving and praise. Today we celebrate Thanksgiving, entering God’s presence thankful for all that He has given us!

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

2 Let Israel say:
“His love endures forever.”
3 Let the house of Aaron say:
“His love endures forever.”
4 Let those who fear the Lord say:
“His love endures forever.”

5 When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord;
he brought me into a spacious place.
6 The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?
7 The Lord is with me; he is my helper.
I look in triumph on my enemies.

8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in humans.
9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in princes.“

Thankful for God’s interventions.

The psalm of David does a great job highlighting how God is our savior. When we call on the name of the Lord, He is just and good to intervene and save us.

When we are hard-pressed and facing deadlines and challenges, how do we react? It is easy to say that we should fight back on our knees. When we are questioning if it is God’s battle or not, it is a lot harder.

Before entering the battle, we need to start with thanksgiving. Speak out loud to God all that you are thankful for today. Share what you are thankful for with all of those around you. Give God the glory for His goodness, leaving the battle in His hands!

Dear Father, 

Today I thank you Lord for all that You have done. I remember all the times that You have been faithful to deliver and provide. Knowing that you are capable, I surrender my day to You!
