Daily Devotional – Perfect Gifts from Heaven

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 James 12-19. We know how to give good gifts to those that we love. Our perfect heavenly Father too knows how to give good and perfect gifts!

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created.“

Be thankful for those perfect gifts. 

James reminds us not to be deceived. It is too easy to move on and forget the perfect gifts from our heavenly father. It is easy to be caught up in the present time and lose track of the past.

We are instructed to persevere and stand firm in the face of adversity. Despite all the challenges and tossing emotions, the prize is for the one that remains faithful till the end. 

Writing down all that we are grateful and thankful for will help us see God’s interventions. It will remind us of how God has not left our side. No matter the difficulties that we have had to endure. God has given us so many perfect gifts, lets focus our attention on those today!

Dear Father, 

Thank you for all of your perfect gifts God. As I remember them today, I am encouraged to see what you are going to do and give in the future. Be glorified and exalted today and forever my Lord.
