Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 3:16-21. This scripture is known universally as the greatest scripture. God’s plan from the beginning was revealed to us in this scripture.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”
All because God loves us!
Most often when a person humbles themselves, it is from a position of pity. They may not condemn you, but they definitely stoop down with a sense of superiority and righteousness.
Jesus came not with a heart of condemnation, but as one looking to experience the challenges and frailties of humanity. God understands all and experienced it all the Almighty God. He knew that He truly did not understand our human perspective.
God did not and does not want us to perish. Jesus experienced the fears and concerns that come with our flesh and limitations. He stands before us as one who understands where we are coming from, offering an olive branch. He desires that we all believe in His salvation and that we grab onto eternal life with Him.
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Jesus, that You came not to condemn us but to walk our path with us. Your love is so great and mighty. Your love took You to the cross to die for me and the rest of humanity. Help me to bring others to see this and have them experience Your love.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
