Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Micah 5:1-4. Faith is the act of living without seeing what you know. It was prophesized many years before, that God would come to dwell among His creation as a sign and to save them.
“[a]Marshal your troops now, city of troops,
for a siege is laid against us.
They will strike Israel’s ruler
on the cheek with a rod.
2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans[b] of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times.”
3 Therefore Israel will be abandoned
until the time when she who is in labor bears a son,
and the rest of his brothers return
to join the Israelites.
4 He will stand and shepherd his flock
in the strength of the Lord,
in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.
And they will live securely, for then his greatness
will reach to the ends of the earth.”
Demonstrate your love and faith with a sign.
Love is a verb and requires an action to back up the words so easily spoken. A sign of one’s love and commitment adds validity to the feelings shared. The sign is the foundation that faith is placed upon.
No matter your stature in society, in the church, or in your family, God can use you. You can stand out and speak of a love that overcomes all the barriers that stand in the face of God.
Let us be the sign of God’s love to the world today and throughout this Christmas season. While Jesus is at the forefront of people’s minds, let us be sure to be the proof of the faith that we have in the saving grace of Jesus.
