Christmas Devotional – Do You Have a Song to Sing?

Daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Luke 2:16-19. There are many examples throughout the Bible of God’s people singing a song of praise. It is a natural result and reaction to such an amazing miracle of the Lord.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

Join in with the song of the angels.

David calls us to enter the courts of our Lord with songs of thanksgiving. A song will not only prepare our way to the throne of the King of kings but also our hearts. As we focus on the baby that lies in the manger as are reminded of His fate on the cross.

Hear the voices of the angels today. The same voices sang on the night of Jesus’ birth to the shepherds and spread the good news. They are singing of the good news and welcome us to sing with them to proclaim the good news that our savior has come to save us!

Let us remember the good news behind Christmas. Jesus came so that He could be our sacrifice!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that Your good news. You sent Jesus to pay our price and redeem us from the sin that so easily entangles us. Hear my song of worship today as I sing with the angels about the birth of Your son Jesus.
