Daily Devotional – Love Is What We Need

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 15: 9-15. We find ourselves in a time where we need to regain our focus. The focus of each one needs to be to foster love within ourselves. Foster a love that would have you sacrifice your life for your friends.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”

Stoke the love that God has sparked in your heart

I have often used the following analogy to explain how we should speak to others. As we walk to the pinnacle of the mountain, we have the face of the mountain to one side and a sheer drop on the other. With the intention of you not falling, I have 2 ways to say the same thing;

dating for women over 50
  1. Don’t walk to close to the edge
  2. Walk closer to the face of the mountain

With the same intention, I have spoken. The results achieved will vary considerably. It is all about what you bring the recipients attention to. By telling you to focus on the face of the mountain, you will automatically walk away from the edge. You will not fall, but get to experience the awesome view from the top of the mountain.

We all have the opportunity to focus the attention of those around us. We can focus our own and their attention on the love that was sparked in us by God’s Spirit.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

gifts or mom

Thank you God that You first loved us. You have lived the example and exemplified love. Today I choose to focus all my efforts on Your love. I focus on fanning the flames that have burned since I first experienced Your love. Give me the love that will lay my life on the line for my friends!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
