Something Sweet

TAKING A NOTION TO BAKE

Our house is quiet this afternoon, Dearest is napping and I am getting some much needed catching up on my blog and visiting blogs. Early this morning my husband blithely asked, ‘you know you’re out of sugar don’t you?’

No, I did not. He used the last of it to make sweet tea – sweet tea flows like water in our home!

So, wishing to make somethings sweet for Dearest when he woke – I dreamt up this:

Apple Cobblersans white sugar

  • 5 medium to large apples (I used Granny Smith) enough to fill with apple slices
  • 2 tbsp Chai Spice Mix – McCormick Gourmet spices
  • 1/2 cup raisens
  • 1/2 cup raw sugar
  • 1 package single-serving size Quaker Plain Oatmeal

Mix all together.

Top With:

Grandma’s Crumble topping:

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Mix and top apple mixture.

Bake at 350 until golden brown – 30 to 45 minutes.
