Scripture That Helps Guide Our Family’s Life

This is a follow-up to Monday’s post about “cutting back on crazy.”

Is there something that can help us cut back on crazy in our often-hectic family lives?

I once heard Tim Keller preach a sermon on giving up old habits. He spoke about the idea of trading up to a “better love.”

The basic idea is this: it’s easier to give something up when we have something better to reach for.

Does this same idea apply to our family life? Is there something better that we can reach for?

For me, this is the Scripture I reach for when I find myself falling into the multi-tasking, anxious mode of parenting.

The verse – one of my favorites – reminds me what life really boils down to. What remains.

(I also like it because it’s short, sweet, and easy to remember!)

And it gives me something better to reach for when I’m tempted to get all caught up.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

1 Corinthians: 13

Question: Do you have a favorite verse that you reach for when family life gets chaotic?

Warmly,
Dr. Ann
