Daily Devotional – Wisdom Answers Gently

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Proverbs 15:1-9. Wisdom has a big picture view. As you step back from where you are now, you will see the victory in the end for those that love the Lord. Jesus won the war on the cross and so as a winner, you need not fret.

A gentle answer turns away wrath,

but a harsh word stirs up anger.

fall scents for your home

The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge,
but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.

The eyes of the Lord are everywhere,
keeping watch on the wicked and the good.

The soothing tongue is a tree of life,
but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.

A fool spurns a parent’s discipline,
but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.

The house of the righteous contains great treasure,
but the income of the wicked brings ruin.

The lips of the wise spread knowledge,
but the hearts of fools are not upright.

The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked,
but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

The Lord detests the way of the wicked,
but he loves those who pursue righteousness.

Do you think gentle is weak?

It takes great strength and self-control to respond to a heated confrontation with gentleness. Wisdom understands that adding fuel to a heated confrontation is only going to make things worse. Rather than fueling further attacks, wisdom cools the situation with gentleness.

A wise person will spread truth and gently speak to all. We need to be cautious in how we speak to and act toward all those around us.

Let us seek and speak the truth in all that we do. God warns us of the traps that lay ahead for those that lie and manipulate. Above all, God detests the wicked heart that walks away from truth and wisdom.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for the example You were while facing tragedy. Help me by Your Holy Spirit to be gentle and gracious in all situations. May Your love flow through me toward all those around me, so that You may draw them unto You!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
