Daily Devotional – Why Wait?

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Luke 6: 27-35. It has often been said that everything is dependent on your perspective. At this time, my greatest fear is that we will just go back to life as we knew it before Coronavirus. Rather we should take stock and learn from our time considering what truly is most important!

But to you who are listening, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

What if it was your last day?

What would we do or change in our lives if we did indeed know it was our last?

Who would we reach out to? What would we say to our loved ones? What would we say to our friends? Would we forgive those who have hurt us?  The reality is that we won’t know when we will leave this world, so I ask you, “Why to wait to make those changes?”

We should work hard to live each day as if it were our last, and strive to have a positive impact on those around us: loving deeply, forgiving freely, and giving generously. In doing so, we will have an impactful life for Christ and will be living out our legacy on a daily basis.

For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. Matthew 6:14-15

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Please help me to be a positive influence for you today. Surround me with those who will help me, and with those who need to know you and for whom I can provide loving support and encouragement. Help me to forgive all who have hurt me in any way.

In Jesus Name,

Amen

  1. A great word Robin – I hope this season changes the way we think, live and behave. I love how God takes situations like this to refine us, redeem us, and show us His love through others.
