Daily Devotional – Trading in My Burdens

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 30:1-12. I am tired of carrying these burdens and being overwhelmed by my sorrow. I am lifting my head and hands heavenward to my savior asking for Him to switch out my concerns.

“I will exalt you, Lord,
    for you lifted me out of the depths
    and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
Lord my God, I called to you for help,
    and you healed me.
You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead;
    you spared me from going down to the pit.

Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
    praise his holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment,
    but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
    but rejoicing comes in the morning.

fall scents for your home

When I felt secure, I said,
    “I will never be shaken.”
Lord, when you favored me,
    you made my royal mountain[c] stand firm;
but when you hid your face,
    I was dismayed.

To you, Lord, I called;
    to the Lord I cried for mercy:
“What is gained if I am silenced,
    if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
    Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
10 Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me;
    Lord, be my help.”

11 You turned my wailing into dancing;
    you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
    Lord my God, I will praise you forever.”

Trade in your sickness, pain, and poverty

The joy of the Lord is an overwhelming and overtaking blessing from the presence of our God. It is louder than the fear that screams out my name and stronger than the waves of uncertainty that try to push me from one direction to another.

Sickness may try to drain my energy and passion. Loneliness could leave me feeling isolated and poverty will try to steal my peace. Our Father though has promised to give us His joy though despite all that may attempt to leave us depressed.

Let us then heed the words of Jesus and give Him our burdens and worries, trading them in for His yoke which is light and easy to bear. Ask our Father to turn our cries of despair into shouts of joy and praise!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that You have offered me to exchange all that this world leaves me carrying for Your light and easy blessing. I choose to take on Your law and yoke so that I may experience Your joy!

In Jesus’s Name,

Amen
