Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Genesis 3:8-12. One of the first things that we do in response to confrontation or revelation is to flee and hide. Fearful of the consequences we hide away as though they won’t find us.
“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
What are you hiding from?
How can we hide from the God that is everywhere and at the same seeing it all? I can tell that Adam was new at this whole sinning and lying thing. I have to wonder if Adam and Eve were the ones who started the saying “The truth will always come out”?
If hiding from God is pointless, then why do we attempt to cover up and hide our sins from our Father? Perhaps it is the sediment of sin that we are so embarrassed about as Jesus approaches us or the shortcoming.
When we follow the word of God, we see a God that judges not by our actions but by our hearts and intentions. His word and eyes cut through the flesh, bone, and marrow right to the soul.
Let’s Pray
Dear Father,
Thank you Father that You can be found in every situation. Despite my thoughts and actions, You see Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross for me. What good news is Your salvation today!
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
