Daily Devotional – Praying in Thanksgiving

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-28. Prayer is God’s call as He beckons for us to reach out to Him. He longs for us to live in dialogue and communion with Him, and prayer is vital to the 2-way communication!

Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22 reject every kind of evil.

23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

25 Brothers and sisters, pray for us. 26 Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss. 27 I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters.

28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.”

Pray continuously with Thankful hearts

When we close our eyes and pray unto our Father we are transported directly into the presence of God within His courts. We have been granted access to the throne room of the Almighty God of all the universes by the sacrifice and blood of Jesus.

When we come into His presence, how can we come before Him without a thankful heart? Considering that God has restored our broken hearts, lives, and relationships, we have much to be thankful for.

God hears our prayers and turns His ear toward what we have to say. As we pray and speak of all that we are thankful for, God is exalted and glorified.

A thankful heart corrects our posture and heart toward God putting everything into perspective. Let us come before our Father and redeemer today in thankfulness for all the good that He has done!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

You have provided me with everything and much more than I could have ever imagined. Thank you Father for Your love and Your great mercy in everything. Be glorified today and rise upon my thanksgiving today!

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
