Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Romans 5:6-11. God had planned and calculated it perfectly. At the right time, Jesus came to earth to die and sacrifice Himself. His love plotted the plan and course for our salvation.
“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”

We are not deserving of Jesus’ mercy
I tend to think that I am always right. I tell people what to do because I believe that I am right. My opinion is always the correct opinion. I tend to believe and act in this manner because I think that I am righteous and a good person.
Some people would say that I am arrogant and proud. As a good person, would you sacrifice your life for me? Probably not!
No matter how good I think I am, I really am a dirty rotten sinner. My good deeds are truly a facade and distraction for my sinful heart. Even if you offered your life to replace mine, I wouldn’t be able in conscience to accept your sacrifice. Jesus looked beyond our sin and our inabilities with eyes full of love. There was nothing reckless about His actions. Jesus intentionally loved His creation while He walked upon the earth, and willingly kept Himself on the cross for us!

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Jesus, that You love us as You do. No matter our sin and our actions, Your love compelled You to overcome all obstacles for our salvation. Your love has paved the path for our lifetime communion with You.
