Daily Devotional – A Life of No Regrets

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Philippians 3: 7-14. All of us have experienced regrets in our lives. If we’d be truly honest with ourselves, we’d recognize that many of those regrets have been born out of poor decisions and actions of our own doing, rather than caused by others.

But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

We cannot control all of life’s circumstances. There are even some circumstances that are simply thrust upon us, such as weather disasters and illness. Quickly we find how little we can control in life. It’s in those times we turn to a God we can trust.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song, I give thanks to him”. Psalm 28:7

What we can control is the process we use to make important life decisions and the actions that we take along the way. If we learn to live by and apply Biblical principles to our daily life, then our regrets will be few and our spirits will be at peace, even if the results aren’t as desired and expected. Learn to trust God and let Him lead and guide you on this journey. In this, you will have no regrets!

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

As I begin this process, please open my mind to areas of regret in my life, and illuminate my role in creating those situations. Let your Holy Spirit flow and be my guide, my support, and my comforter as I learn to apply your word more fully to my daily life.

In Jesus name
Amen
