Daily Devotional – It All Counts as Loss

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Corinthians 15:50-58. Lord, my prayer is that you rid me of myself. Lead to Your cross so that I can see where You laid it all on the line for me and ll the world.

“I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”[h]

55 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”[i]

fall scents for your home

56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

I fall on my knees as I come before the cross

We all have strived and pursued greatness and success. We have set our sights on the million-dollar houses, flashy fast cars, and lifestyle of opulence. Thinking that the achievements under the sun will bring peace and fulfillment, those that climb the mountain confirm the empty promises.

When it is all said and done, the highest value of fulfillment and satisfaction for our souls is found at the foot of the cross. When we find ourselves at the place where love poured out its blood and sacrificed its flesh, it all falls into perspective. There is nothing else that compares to the love and commitment on display.

Let us not confuse and fool ourselves. Let us remember that our identity is found in who our Father created us to be and not in the achievements that He has blessed us with.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Jesus that You have provided everything that I need on the cross. Your sacrifice has opened the way to the presence of our God. Today I take advantage of Your sacrifice and will be found in Your presence.

In Jesus’s Name,
Amen
