Daily Devotional – God’s New Leader

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Joshua 1:3-9. We live in a world where people assume and enforce their leadership. God has given the world the example of a servant leader, taking on the human form to die on the cross for our salvation.

“I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

God asks that we make ourselves available

Power does crazy things to people. As our sinful nature kicks into gear, we desire more and more power. God has instructed us to lead in the very manner to which most of the world tries to lead.

Not only has God instructed us, but He has given us a great example to follow. Jesus came to serve His creation. He leads us with a servant’s heart and posture.

We are all leaders. We are leading our children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends. In fact, you can lead anyone that you choose to. Rather than assuming a position of authority, ask how you can help them. You can then lead them to that solution, and the most important thing that someone needs to lead in is how to love their God and creator more each day!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father God, that You lead and serve us with such a great example. Help me to lead everyone that I see and interact with each day. While I may not lead them in business, I can lead them to Your throne.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
