Daily Devotional – The God of Miracles

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Mark 1:40-45. Jesus came to earth with the single goal of the cross. The purpose behind why He came to earth was to sacrifice His life for you and I. While here, Jesus got to experience humanity, and His heart overflowed with compassion.

A man with leprosy[h] came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”

41 Jesus was indignant.[i] He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.

43 Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: 44 “See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” 45 Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.”

God is more than willing to be miraculous

It is all too easy to become consumed by the physical reality around us. In the here and now, we may find ourselves focused merely on the here and now. We make decisions and react to situations without the consideration of eternity.

Jesus experienced this with those that He walked upon the earth with. Jesus saw those around Him on earth then and sees each and every one of us today. Humans are too easily overwhelmed and conform to the immediate environment and situations.

The lepper approached Jesus, knowing that He was more than capable. Having read the Bible, we have all heard and read about the miracles that Jesus has performed. Let us believe the truth of Jesus as He said “I am willing.

Let’s Pray

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for seeing and understanding our humanity. I will live today knowing Your truth and answer to my heartache. You are willing to intervene and bring a miracle, I am willing to be patient and wait for You and Your timing.

In Your Name,

Amen
