Daily Devotional – More Than Enough

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Revelation 4: 2-11. God is the King of this king and Lord of this lord. I acknowledge humbly that I am not in a position to fulfill my needs wisely at all.

Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. [a]And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white [b]robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. And from the throne proceeded lightnings, [c]thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the[d] seven Spirits of God.

Before the throne there [e]was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:

“Holy,[f] holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!”

Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:

11 “You are worthy, [g]O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they [h]exist and were created.”

God’s view is BIG

An analogy that was shared to me a few years ago wisely has stuck with me. The consultant to our business was trying to have me see the bigger picture.

If you and I both stood at a different end of an elephant with blindfolds and were asked to describe the elephant, we would have different descriptions. To me, an elephant would be like a tail made of course hair. Your description would be a long arm type hose. We would both be correct, but not clear at the same time. By stepping away from the elephant and seeing the bigger picture, what represented all that we thought an elephant to be, is but a tiny part of the elephant.

Sometimes our view of God is limited to what we have seen Him do in our lives or in the bible. God though is much more than that. He is so big, that He is unfathomable, and in order to get the full picture like with the elephant, you would not be able to move far enough back. God is bigger than any problem you facing or that this world could throw at Him. More than just that, God is more than enough!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, for reminding me of who You are. You are greater and bigger than the entire universe and more than enough for me. Today, I will live like I know that you have my back and are on my side.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
