Daily Devotional – We Are Chosen

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Peter 2: 4-10. We are the light of the world. As the body and church of God, we need to be bringing God’s lights to every corner of the globe.

“As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— ⁵ you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house^[a] to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. ⁶ For in Scripture it says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
    a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
    will never be put to shame.”^[b]

⁷ Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected     has become the cornerstone,”[c]

⁸ and, “A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.”[d] They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.

⁹ But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. ¹⁰ Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.“

God has chosen you

God created a plan from the beginning. He chose to build a church of living stones. Stones that would sing His praises and glory. God the builder and creator of His church has chosen you to be the perfect addition to His plan. You have received God’s grace and mercy and now have the opportunity to share your experience.

God has saved us from so much. Our Father has protected and watched over us every step of the way so that we could call on Him. Now as God’s physical body in this physical world, we need to go out into the dark, broken world and share our salvation. No one can speak to the saving grace of God than you, from your personal experience.

We can be the leaders of our communities and country on our knees and in action for those in need. Let us go out determined to be the vessel of God to heal every pain and overcome all fears.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that You have chosen me. I am part of Your church and body. Help me to shine a bright light like a city on a hill. May my bright light shine the light on You and Your love.
