how you can live to be a centenarian

Want to live till you’re 100? It’s more common than you think! According to this infographic designed by TK Encasa, there are 13,350 centenarians in the UK. Compared to 1982, when there were only 2,780, it’s clear that we’re living longer and that your chances of making the ripe old age of a century are better than ever.

However, as the graphic shows, there’s now a 1 in 3 chance for a baby born in 2013 to live to 100 years old. Your child or grandchild may even be the first person to live past 122, the age of the oldest person to have ever lived.

Interestingly, if you hit 100 in 2014, you’ll have lived through monumental events such as the Spanish Influenza Pandemic, World War II, the coronation of Elizabeth II, the fall of the Berlin Wall and the birth of the internet.

A combination of healthy lifestyle choices helps you live past 75, but unfortunately, living past your mid 80’s is more of a genetic game. Read more about it in the graphic below.
